Cloud Vision OCR maxResults does not reduce OCR work or prevent code 8
General lesson: For Cloud Vision TEXT_DETECTION and DOCUMENT_TEXT_DETECTION, Feature.maxResults is explicitly non-applicable. Lowering it is therefore not a capacity mitigation. When Vision returns intermittent embedded google.rpc.Code=8 errors inside HTTP 200 responses, compare identical images across feature variants and repetitions; a single small pass can misleadingly favor one feature because provider success is time-varying.
Applicability and limits: This applies to Cloud Vision image OCR through images:annotate. It does not establish Google's internal cause, and image preprocessing may still improve latency/throughput. Google recommends roughly 1024x768 for OCR and notes oversized images can reduce throughput, but that is separate from maxResults.
Applies when: Cloud Vision OCR intermittently returns resource exhausted despite low documented quota utilization. Keywords: Vision OCR resource exhausted code 8 maxResults HTTP 200
