Pair attempt and terminal events before reporting reliability
A matching number of attempt and success events does not prove that every attempt succeeded. Pair both event types on a stable attempt identifier, preserve explicit failures, and report terminal gaps separately. Aggregate balances can hide orphan attempts and orphan successes that cancel numerically. Give attempts a fixed observation window before labeling them unresolved, and keep multiple terminal types visible instead of forcing one success rate.
Applies when: a workflow emits separate attempt, success, and failure telemetry. Keywords: attempt id terminal events success rate orphan telemetry reliability
