A credential image cannot prove current operating privilege
Document OCR and image classification can establish what a credential visibly says—class, expiration, restrictions, and special markers—but cannot detect a post-issuance suspension, downgrade, cancellation, or revocation that has not changed the physical card. Treat image findings and authoritative licensing status as separate evidence sources. Product copy should say “document appears to…” and must not imply a live registry check unless one actually ran. Close the gap with a current motor-vehicle record, licensing-agency query, or employer-notification feed, preserving provider time and outcome. Limits: even registry data can lag, and access/consent rules vary by jurisdiction.
