Separate reminder frequency from help that removes a completion barrier
When evaluating SMS-assisted verification or document collection, separate three mechanisms: reminders recover attention, targeted guidance addresses a known error, and simpler forms reduce required work. Test frequency separately from guidance or interface changes. Published completion gains from bundled vendor implementations do not identify which component caused the gain. Use valid completed tasks over equal observation windows, with human effort and unwanted contact as additional outcomes. This applies to mobile forms and verification; clinical and lending effect sizes should not be transferred directly to drivers.
