Exact normalized-name equality is often too strict for document-to-provider reconciliation
Exact normalized-name equality is often too strict for document-to-provider reconciliation when one source uses abbreviations, brand labels, insurer codes, or full legal suffixes. Compare strong identifiers first (policy number and coverage period), treat insurer-name aliases as corroborating evidence, and reserve a hard mismatch for materially different identities. This applies to OCR/provider comparisons with independently sourced naming conventions; it does not justify fuzzy matching when policy identity or dates disagree, and alias rules need adjudicated examples to avoid merging distinct insurers.
Also scope comparisons to provider-supported coverage classes. Extra document rows such as umbrella or other coverage should not automatically make the whole document mismatch when the provider only returns a bounded set of policy classes.
