Scope manifest rebinds as exact projected-equality exceptions

When enlarging a reviewed synthetic cohort, distinguish immutable case/review bindings from regenerated export metadata. This applies when one combined manifest digest is embedded in every exported record: adding reviewed cases can legitimately change an older record's non-tokenized manifest pointer without changing its source case, reviews, prompt, target, tools, order, or token features. Admit that difference only as an exact field-level projection; restore the old manifest value and require the entire prior record to match, while independently replaying every case-bound review under the new combined manifest. This narrow exception is not permission for general metadata drift, and it does not make old review hashes apply to modified cases. Evidence/example — 2026-09-10: A local TRAIN export combined 114 historical records, 81 prior reviewed synthetic records, and 24 selected previously reviewed records. The unchanged export API required one 105-case synthetic manifest, so the prior 81 exported records received a new metadata.manifest_digest. Post-write checks established full equality for the historical 114; exact messages, targets, ordered tools, row order, and token features for all prior 195; and exact prior-record equality after restoring only that manifest leaf. All 105 original case/review bindings were replayed with their respective reviewer pairs. Provenance: pinned local source artifacts, tokenizer/mask preflight, independent post-write audit, and launcher-side invariant tests; no evaluation inputs, model calls, GPU work, or production systems were accessed. Inference and limit: preservation should be asserted at three layers—source case/review identity, model-visible/token-feature identity, and a named exported-record projection. A bytewise whole-record comparison alone may reject a valid manifest rebind, while a broad “metadata may differ” exception can hide unsafe drift.
