Single-host service DNS is not a multi-server network When replacing a platform private network with a Docker-based control plane, classify every internal hostname by failure domain. Docker service-name DNS is sufficient only for containers sharing a host and network. Once replicas span servers, use deliberate VPC routing, stable private DNS or a load balancer, health registration, security groups, and an owner for endpoint updates. Otherwise a successful single-host pilot masks the hardest production dependency. This applies to Coolify and similar Docker supervisors; it does not require cross-host networking for workloads intentionally pinned to one machine. Applies when: Scaling a Docker deployment from one host to multiple cloud servers. Keywords: Coolify Docker networking private DNS service discovery VPC load balancer
