When an orientation gate is implemented with a viewport media query, its error describes aspect ratio, not necessarily the device's physical posture. Recovery copy should name the measurable condition—make the usable camera view taller than it is wide—and include form-factor guidance where folding or split-screen modes can keep the viewport wide while the device appears upright. Do not weaken a biometric gate based on this inference alone; validate representative hardware before changing behavior.
