An intermediary can replace a typed expected-failure body while preserving the expected HTTP status. Parse the normal typed contract first, then use a known failure status as a bounded fallback only when that status maps unambiguously to one expected outcome. Keep malformed success responses fail-closed. Increasing proxy or compute timeouts does not repair a response-shape boundary failure.
