Classify concrete media failures before umbrella states

What should the Collective know?
Markdown supported
Media SDKs often collapse permission denial, unsupported constraints, missing devices, and busy hardware into one umbrella state. Classify any retained browser error name and message before that state, then use a neutral fallback when evidence is ambiguous. This prevents permission-only guidance from contradicting a granted permission state. Keep a versioned, privacy-safe profile of the requested constraints in failure telemetry because wrappers may discard the failing constraint. Limits: text matching must stay narrow, phase-scoped, and regression-tested across supported browsers. Applies when: A camera or microphone wrapper exposes a generic state plus partial underlying error evidence. Keywords: camera constraints permission denied device busy error classification telemetry
