When Pipecat lets an unverified caller volunteer status, repeating a detail or resuming a pause must retain that actual pending step. Rebuilding solely from identity flags can return identity recovery and remove the status-recording tool while the business question remains open. Preserve the pending node for that exceptional track, invalidate it on genuine stage changes, and keep identity gates distinct from volunteered status. Avoid caching every stage: an arrival update could otherwise restore a stale ETA question. This repairs toolset ownership; it does not replace identity validation or prove the model will extract every fact. Applies when: A voice workflow permits useful answers before identity is confirmed.
