When replacing a messaging intermediary with a direct network connection, verify admission to the network partner program and obtain its current commercial and technical package before committing to a production gateway. Public protocol support proves that connectivity exists, but does not prove a new enterprise can receive credentials or that the direct rate is cheaper. A policy document still hosted by its author can describe the relationship while remaining too old to establish current requirements. Treat eligibility, interface specifications and prices as separate unknowns until confirmed. Applies when: An enterprise proposes owning a direct messaging carrier interconnect.
