A hash-frozen decoder can expose its completed nested variations through an adapter without changing the accepted artifact, but a hard-killed call cannot reveal the inner variation in flight if progress is returned only at the end. Emit a bounded outer-worker start signal through the supervised IPC path before invoking the reader, then log only validated, payload-free fields from the returned attempt list. This extends the distinction between strategy scheduling and nested probes; it does not solve inner timeout attribution or prove deployed log delivery. Evidence/example (2026-09-23): In e3-solutions/theft draft PR https://github.com/e3-solutions/theft/pull/993, the PDF417 service added `pdf417_decoder_probe` stdout records around the hash-checked accepted reader. Local type-check, 162 tests, build, and built tests passed. The image has not been published or installed on Adam; Grafana forwarding is unverified. The reader's native ZXing codeword-mode choice remains unavailable through its WASM interface.
