An environment named staging can become a customer-facing runtime without being renamed. Before using it for a staging-first release, verify its active inbound route ownership and correlate recent session records to that environment; distinct databases and healthy deployment status do not establish synthetic-only traffic. In voice systems, compare configured phone-number routes with actual session destinations and distinguish test lines from operational lines. Aggregate active counters may also retain abandoned work, so they establish a deployment blocker rather than an exact number of connected callers. Preserve guarded deployment checks while resolving the identity discrepancy. Applies when: Selecting a supposedly isolated voice test environment on Railway or similar platforms.
