Separate OCR recognition from structured extraction when investigating false expiry

When a document is falsely flagged as expired, compare the original image, raw OCR text, structured model response, persisted fields, and decision rule separately. A successful OCR call and a high-confidence structured response do not establish that the extracted date is grounded in the image. An any-side-expired rule can turn one wrong front extraction into a hard failure despite a current back-barcode date; multiple field conflicts may be downstream effects of that same extraction.

Applicability and limits: use this method for OCR-plus-model verification pipelines. Do not automatically trust the later date or override a real disagreement. Reprocessing and status correction require separate authorization, and a single incident does not establish population-wide impact.
