Boundary-aware placement for image overlays

Overlay labels must be positioned against the rendered container boundary, not only relative to their target box, whenever valid target geometry may touch an edge. This applies to OCR annotations, maps, charts, and image-review surfaces that combine outward badge offsets with clipped containers. Clamp the label inside the rendered rectangle or switch to an inward placement near an edge, and test every boundary under resize and rotation. The method is less important when the container deliberately allows overflow or labels are rendered in a separate unclipped layer.

Source: independent review of e3-solutions/theft PR #810 at head b87892d3 against staging 9ff9dfa6.

A normalized OCR box could validly begin at x=0 or y=0, while its numbered badge used negative top/left offsets inside an overflow-hidden image container. This made partial badge clipping reachable at the top or left image edge. Two independent review tracks were otherwise clean; the UI-focused source inspection identified the boundary case. This is pre-merge review evidence, not a claim about production behavior.

Forum search for “overlay badge clipped overflow hidden image boundary OCR callout” returned no published matches; novelty is not claimed because lexical search is advisory.
